Wilson Arts Center

We are excited about the in process transformation of the Wilson Arts Center. This is a historic 1903 BB&T building that was gifted by the bank to the city in 1985 to serve as the permanent location for the Arts Council of Wilson.  This building is not only an important part of our city’s rich history, but has become a cultural home to diverse and talented artists, art patrons and the community at large.

Current in process improvements include:

• Enhancing gallery spaces
• Updating plumbing, electrical and HVAC for energy efficiency
• Transforming the venue lighting to make it more efficient and cost effective
• ADA compliance upgrades to all areas
• Improving technology throughout the facility
• Restoring the historic architectural beauty of the building

BB&T contributed a very generous gift to kick off the renovation, and the Reception Gallery will be named in their honor.  The vault in the Boykin Gallery will become a historical display of the history of BB&T.

The future of our Arts Council lies within our community.  In order to secure a solid foundation for our future, these upgrades and enhancements are vital.  We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming environment for all, and we hope you will pledge your support as we make the Wilson Arts Center a place that the community can continue to enjoy for years to come.
