Visual Arts Academy

Spring 2018 Classes

The Arts Council will offer the Visual Arts Academy for middle and high school students, beginning in January. There will be 11, two-hour sessions every Tuesday.

Louis Small will be teaching “PIC-Toons” January 30, February 6, 13, 20, 27 and March 6. Barton College Art majors will be teaching the fundamentals of drawing March 13, 20, and 27. The last two classes, on April 10 and 17 will be taught by Elizabeth Farnsworth on painting.

These classes will give the students a variety of art experiences with excellent instruction. This is a great opportunity for students who wish to further their interest in art – while having fun!

The next three sessions will be taught by Barton College Art majors and will include the fundamentals of drawing. The dates include, March 13, 20 and 27.

Elisabeth Farnsworth will be teaching the last two classes on painting. Those dates include April 10 and 17. These classes will give the students a variety of art experiences with excellent instruction. This is a great opportunity for students who wish to further their interest in art – while having fun!

Students are encouraged to work on projects at home independently in addition to class. This program requires dedication and commitment on the part of both students and parents. Students are required to attend regularly in order to participate.

The classes meet from 4-6 p.m. at the theater lobby and the cost is $90 for the 11 sessions. Those interested should submit an application before the beginning of the semester.
