Visual Arts Academy

The Visual Arts Academy was created in 2007 by the Arts Council of Wilson. Its mission is to promote the visual arts among middle and high school students in Wilson County. The curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire dedicated art students. The Arts Council of Wilson is excited to be partnering with the Barton College Department of Art and Design. Each semester will include instruction in drawing, painting and other mediums. Local Artists will provide Instruction.

Spring 2017 Information

2015.08_VisualArtsAcademy_01The Visual Arts Academy will have two  9-week sessions a year.  The Visual Arts Academy Spring session begins on February 14 and ends April 11.

VAA meets once a week at the Arts   Council on Tuesdays from 4 - 6 p.m.

Students are encouraged to work on projects at home independently.  At the end of the Spring session, there will be an art show exhibiting student work.

This  program requires dedication and commitment on the part of both students and parents.  Students are required to attend regularly in order to participate.

Those interested should submit an application before the beginning of the semester.  Along with the application, please include a portfolio showing photos of at least three examples of the student’s work.

The Arts Council of Wilson and Barton College are very excited to offer this exceptional opportunity to interested students!

The cost is $75 per semester.  Payment is due before the beginning of each session.
Scholarships are available.
