For Whirligig Festival 2010, a gateway designed by Jimmy Sink will be an arbor to welcome people into the Arts Council of Wilson! Once inside, totem pole signs will direct you to a variety of enriching arts experiences to enjoy. Tammi Barnes, of Arts Unlimited, is coordinating our many artistic offerings. In the basement, we will feature Carola Jones, a local artist and instructor, for experiences with clay. In the third floor studios, we will offer hands-on activities, as well as demonstrations by well known Wilson artists including Oona Lewis, Pegi Barnes Sharp, and Elizabeth Cohen.

THE STAGE!
The Arts Council Whirlikidz Stage features performing arts groups almost every 30 minutes. Our own ACT! for Youth students will serve as masters of ceremonies. They will proudly introduce singers, dancers, steppers and demonstrators of martial arts.
THE GALLERIES!
Wonderful exhibits await you in the four Arts Council Galleries:
Downtown Development’s permanent collection of Vollis Simpson whirligigs and the Dan Finch and the Finch Studio Potters exhibit through November 7th in the Annie Boykin Gallery
The Wilson County Schools Student art in the Cooke Gallery and a portion of the Lowe Gallery
The Wilson Active Artists Association artwork, featuring artist Sharon Killette, in the Lowe Gallery
The Boykin Center Hammond Gallery featuring selenium tone silver photographs of whirligigs by Thomas Spencer and the seashell art of Earl Boykin.

THE ART WALK!
In the Barnes Street parking lot members of the Wilson Active Artists along with other artists will display their inspiring artwork for Whirligig Festival attendees.
